From Hair Extensions to Head-Turning Fashion: The Entrepreneurial Journey of Reni Abina, Founder of Rendoll

The fashion industry is a fast-paced, ever-developing avenue of growth for creative minds worldwide. Unfortunately, Nigeria’s fashion industry, which is projected to have revenue of $1.7 billion, has not yet received the investments it deserves. Despite this, Reni Abina took a different approach and launched her attainable luxury women’s clothing brand, Rendoll, with just £400.

Reni’s entrepreneurial journey began at the young age of 16, fueled by her curiosity and creativity. She launched her own hair extensions brand, proving that age is just a number when it comes to chasing your dreams. Even after moving to England for her education, Reni continued nurturing her entrepreneurial spirit and successfully ran her business until age 25. The experience gave her financial independence and instilled a sense of resilience and determination to pursue new opportunities.

As with many journeys, sometimes we must close one door to open another. Reni made the difficult decision to close her first business to pursue a new path. After completing law school and an MBA from the University of London Distance Program, Reni returned to Nigeria and followed her heart to create Rendoll. With a “glass half full” approach and commitment to her brand, she started with a capital of just £400 and set out to fill the gaps in the Nigerian fashion market. She wanted to focus on something she truly believed in, creating fashion that inspires and empowers women.

When asked to describe the spirit of her brand, she said, “I’ll describe the Rendoll style as BOLD. Most of our pieces are statement pieces. We very rarely make basic clothes. Our outfits are for the days when you want to be noticed and want to stand out from the crowd. Luckily for me, my niche has found me and the brand through social media and word of mouth.”

With a focus on exceptional organization and hard work, Reni has built a brand with a six-figure yearly revenue and a return rate of less than 1%. And she’s not stopping there – she’s competing with major brands like Zara, with a revenue of approximately $1000m!

Rendoll’s bold and unique statement pieces are more than just clothing; they’re a means of self-expression for women who want to stand out from the crowd. With Reni’s strengths and sheer resilience against the odds, she is a true leader in the field and wants to make sure that Rendoll becomes a household name — synonymous with bold fashion and self-expression for women everywhere.
